TATRAVAGÓNKA a.s. will present a new concept for the intelligent electric control of tarpaulin cover and stanchions at InnoTrans. The system can be used
on Shimmns and Rilns wagons. The prototype demonstrates the possibilities of controlled operation of the individual wagon components – tarpaulin cover
and stanchions – simply, precisely and remotely:
• via an app on a tablet or mobile phone, either directly at the wagon or from the control centre,
• via a web interface.
After connecting to a power source via a battery, an external power supply or a locomotive, the operator can use an app or web interface to control the individual functions of each wagon or a wagon unit included in the train. Opening or closing the tarpaulin cover can thus be done with just a few clicks, without the need for manual intervention. At the same time, the system continuously monitors the condition of the cargo. It detects the presence of coils and notifies the operator of any asymmetrical loading, thereby helps to prevent incorrect loading and enhances transport safety. The stanchions move independently of the width of individual coils, allowing the system to adapt flexibly to different load configurations and simplifying the securing process. At the same time, digital control provides the basis for monitoring and collecting data on the condition of wagons, which offers a better overview of operations and paves the way for further automation, predictive maintenance and more efficient management of rail freight transport.
